Communicating education, research and a sustainable future.
The visual identity for the national ED.VITA award was developed from the principles of sustainable design. The main challenge was to create an identity that avoids superficial “greenwashing” aesthetics and instead communicates sustainability through a clear and honest visual language.
The symbol and graphic elements are based on ideas of circulation, connection and exploration, principles that lie at the core of both education and sustainable practices. The vector-based logo is designed with minimal digital complexity, enabling more energy-efficient use in digital environments and reduced ink consumption in print. The typographic concept draws inspiration from principles found in nature, particularly the bee waggle dance, a form of communication and orientation that reflects collective intelligence and shared discovery. The colour palette draws inspiration from the first images of Earth captured from space, reinforcing awareness of our shared planet. The same visual logic is translated into the award sculpture, which embodies movement, connection and exploration in three dimensions.
